Our 5 Chosen Winners of the "Share Your Stowe Motel & Snowdrift Story" Contest:

We wanted to share some of our memories at the Stowe Motel. Our first visit to Stowe was in the Fall of 1996. We fell in love instantly with Stowe (we even extended our stay by an extra day). We have been coming up ever since. We even remember Peter always working around the motel. We have spent numerous milestones at the motel over the years. A 30th birthday (the same weekend Princess Diana died - 1997). Our 20th year of being together (2/2002 - we are high school sweethearts since 2/1982). That visit included a snowy horse/carriage ride and champagne. Two 40th birthdays – one in 2005 (the gift was golf school at Stowe Country Club) and one in 2007 (we even brought our new cat on that trip). We have brought our parents/siblings to visit the motel (our nephew took his first steps in one of the rooms). We have been to so many wonderful restaurants (Foxfire is our favorite), art galleries (Robert Paul is our favorite – 8 Fred Swans decorate our home with Stowe scenes), balloon fests and arts/crafts events. We have biked, walked, snow-shoed and cross-country skied on the bike path. The staff at the motel is the best. We are always spoiled by Nancy (who leaves us special gifts in our room – flowers, syrup, maple candies). We always enjoy the motel and look forward to many more visits in the future. Thanks for always making our visits so special and memorable.

When I was 3 years old, my grandparents took me to the hot air balloon festival in Stowe, Vermont for the first time. We immediately fell in love with this quaint little town and knew that we would be back. 23 years later, the Stowe Motel is still the site of our annual family reunion, where we all come together every year to relax, watch the balloons, and catch up over barbeques and lawn games. The group is never exactly the same - there are always some that can’t make it and, more often, new friends and family additions - but we always have an amazing time. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had this July weekend to look forward to. This motel and its beautiful town hold so many memories for me - never mind for all of us combined! Some of my favorites include: riding bikes from the Stowe Motel past cows along the nearby path, relaxing by the pool, adventuring around town to sample the local cheese, cider, and ice cream, and of course, watching the hot air balloons rise in the sky right across the street. This is one of the most consistent traditions in my life, which not only allows me to catch up with my family, but also to check in with myself, reflect, and remember. Thank you for hosting us for all these years, and here’s to many more!

For the past 20 years, my family and I have been making the trek up to Stowe, Vermont to stay at the Stowe Motel and Snowdrift. We love this plaace and have never considered staying any place else. Stowe is one of those nostalgic towns where candy stores meet fine dining and biking and hiking meet yoga studios and homemade ice cream.

I married into a family that had, as a yearly tradition, a visit to Stowe in March every year. My mother in law went with her parents and she kept the tradition alive with her family as well. For the past 30 years, I have been visiting Stowe, my boys have learned to ski there and have fond memories of skiing with their grandfather who sadly, is no longer with us but skied with them until he was 80 years old.

Testimonials

"A good budget option is the friendly, family-owned Stowe Motel and Snowdrift, a 10 minute drive from the slopes and a short walk to many restaurants and shops in town. The hotel is very basic, but there's a hottub and daily breakfast and WiFi are included."

—Wall Street Journal

"My wife and I have stayed at Stowe Motel on four occasions. We have always found the staff helpful and courteous. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed. The location in centered between the mountain and the town, so you are never more than five minutes from either. The rates are good and the facilities are kept up well. Anyone looking for a nice place to stay should consider the Stowe Motel."

"I've never done this before but we had such an excellent time at your place last weekend that we had to express our gratitude again. The bikes were a true serendipity and my daughter is still talking about the hammock. The badminton was a fun way to spend the time as well.
