Peter and Carolyn Ruschp purchased the Stowe Motel in 1977. The adjacent property of the Snowdrift Motel was acquired almost 20 years later in 1995. The Ruschp family has been instrumental in establishing Stowe as the Ski Capital of the East. Sepp Ruschp, family patriarch, founded the Ski School in 1936 and was the first president of the Mount Mansfield Company. Peter was a former US Ski Team member, Ski School Director at the Stowe Mountain Resort. Sadly, in August 2005, Peter passed away although his legacy will live on. Carolyn continues to run the Motels with the assistance of her two children, Andrew and Allison. Allison is a graduate of Skidmore College, in Saratoga Springs NY while Andrew is a Civil and Environmental Engineer with a degree from Vermont Technical College, in addition to his BS in Business from University of Denver.
